What are the Common Types of Bucket Trucks?

Many industries often buy new or used bucket trucks for their business needs, such as in construction, landscaping, tree maintenance, electrical repairs, etc. Depending on the size and power of the bucket truck, it can lift or carry a wide variety of things, from human beings to heavy industrial equipment and containers. Here are a few examples of the types of bucket trucks available:

Versalift

The versalift truck is one of the most common variations of bucket trucks around. It has a platform attached to a hydraulic lift that can extend from the back of the truck. It is commonly used to transport building materials to various platforms.

Cherry Picker

A cherry picker truck has a motorized arm that carries a single-person enclosure. Its name derives from the fact that it is typically used to reach tall trees when harvesting fruit. Today, it can be used in other industries like in telephone, electric, or cable pole maintenance.

Boom Trucks

Boom trucks, on the other hand, are used more for lifting heavy objects than carrying them on platforms. The tips of these trucks’ hydraulic arm typically ends in a pulley mechanism that allows it to lift and counterbalance objects.

Digger Derrick

The digger derrick trucks, on the other hand, carry a spiral digging equipment called an auger, which is used to bore precise holes mostly for construction purposes.
