Pruning off some
branches will be essential when enhancing safety on a property. It is
even more important when you and your team are tasked to temporarily
lease a bucket truck for horticultural work. However, the experience
of working with trees of staggering heights amplifies the danger of
untoward incidents for workers. As such, they should be trained
firmly through a number of core areas.
Prepping
Much preparation will
be needed for setting up the truck in a tree trimming operation. For
instance, the trimming team should study the immediate area for
potential safety hazards and mark them as soon as possible. Power
lines are already high on the list of safety hazards to avoid; some
experts recommend planning the operation to take place no closer than
ten feet from any wire. At the same time, the area around the truck
should be cordoned off from traffic.
Operation Proper
While on the activity,
all personnel should don their protective gear. The truck operators
must be skilled to run the boom from the ground while the main
trimmer can go up on the bucket with all the tools needed. However,
they must be firmly latched to the bucket’s fails and not lean
over.
A
properly-coordinated trimming will help the entire bucket truck crew
finish the job safely.
